David McMillen of Speedlink Repatriation

SpeedLink got its start as a conventional courier service back in 2006 focusing on time-critical, same-day services across the UK and to all EU countries.

Since then, SpeedLink has helped thousands of companies achieve seemingly impossible deadlines – delivering
mission-critical shipments – for virtually every type of company and industry imaginable.

Then, there was Mary.

My name is Dave McMillen, Director at SpeedLink. I lost my mum Mary back in 2016. Mary spent most of her adult life in Canada before moving back to the UK before my daughter was born. Thankfully, we had mum with us for almost a decade before she passed.

In the aftermath of her death, we felt it would be fitting to have her ashes split and taken to Canada, with the rest going to Northern Ireland where she was born. Could we find an easy and affordable service? No! My wife and I looked at each other and said “We run a specialist courier service. Why aren’t we able to do it?”

So, we did our research and found out what we needed to do, and we did it. Mary, my dear mum, was our first repatriation client.

Since then, SpeedLink has launched a standalone service for the “Caring, Dignified and Affordable Cremated Remains Courier Service” that would not only serve the UK, but also from the UK to international destinations. To date, we have shipped ashes to every continent on the globe – save for Antarctica – endeavouring to bring the exact same care, compassion and dignity that Mary, my mum and first client, was afforded.

We have hand-carried ashes to most countries across Europe, as well as to Canada and the United States. Even as far as the Philippines and Zimbabwe.

In early 2023, we launched our ‘value’ or economy repatriation service from the UK to global destinations. This service allows for a “flat-fee, door-to-door service” including everything: packing, transport, customs and doorstep delivery, complete with tracking – usually for about half the cost of a typical air-freight repatriation. This service has proved to be even better than expected.

In June 2024, this service was expanded to include an all-new location for SpeedLink in New York City, allowing for economy shipments to flow from the US to the UK and beyond.

With SpeedLink’s excellence, innovation, and impeccable customer care, we have been able to offer far more affordable and straightforward cremated remains courier and repatriation services across town, the country and to global destinations. Why not get in touch with us to find out more?
